I recently covered Shattuck-St. Mary’s during its home showcase in Faribault, Minnesota, capturing a commanding 10–0 victory over the Indiana Elite. From the opening faceoff, SSM played with speed, structure and confidence. The sustained offensive pressure from the Sabers produced battles along the boards, quick puck movement, shots around the net and plenty of celebrations.
Capturing this game was extremely special. Shattuck-St. Mary’s has developed one of the most respected hockey programs in the country. Walking into the facility, you're eyes immediately catch the graphics along the walls - highlighting SSM's tradition of excellence. Over the years, they’ve produced some of the top talent in the NCAA, the NHL, and international competition—including the Olympics.
The 15O level is already part of that championship tradition. Shattuck-St. Mary’s won the 2026 USA Hockey Youth Tier I 15O national championship just six months ago. Photographing the team only months after that championship offered a close look at the pace and standard behind its continued success.
J.P. Parise Arena
Named after J.P. Parisé, the former NHL Minnesota North Stars star and long-time director of hockey at Shattuck-St. Mary's, who helped build the school's elite hockey legacy. This arena is part of the broader Shattuck-St. Mary's Sports Complex, which includes additional sheets of ice like the historic John R. Sumner Arena and specialized 3v3 training spaces.
