Following a handful of unsuccessful trips in the last year, I was finally able to capture the Northern Lights for the first time with my camera!

November 11th, 2025 brought a spectacular show, with reported sightings in all 48 states of the continental U.S. With similar projections for November 12th, I was sure to make the trip out for a chance at photographing this stunning sight for myself.

I hit the road to Hastings to run away from some of the metro light pollution, and in pursuit of water to bounce reflections of the lit-up sky. While it wasn't as vibrant as Tuesday's show, it surely did not disappoint. For over an hour, the northern lights danced along the horizon.
