A newly delivered Corvette already carries a certain weight. A newly delivered 2027 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X feels like something else entirely.
I recently photographed this ZR1X following delivery in Lakeville, Minnesota. The session had a limited window, so the plan had to be simple: use nearby locations, move efficiently, and make the most of the car’s shape, details, and presence without turning the shoot into an all-day production.
In this case, the time constraint was manageable because I knew the area and had locations nearby that would work quickly. We could get in, shoot with intention, and move on without wasting time. That local knowledge, paired with years of experience in automotive photography, made the session feel controlled rather than rushed.
The Subject: 2027 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X
The ZR1X sits in rare company. Chevrolet built it around the LT7 5.5L DOHC twin-turbo V8, paired with an electric front drive unit and an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. It’s the kind of Corvette that pushes well past the familiar idea of an American sports car and into something closer to a modern exotic.
With 1,250 horsepower and a sticker of $280,000, I had a specific goal in mind - capture what separates this from the other 'Vettes. At a quick glance, people outside of the car enthusiast world might just brush it off as another C8. I wanted to make sure the details that make this car so unique were not overlooked.
Carbon Fiber Package
The carbon fiber work on this vehicle was absolutely incredible. It added a level of texture that photos can really bring out. The more I photographed the car and became familiar with it, the more I appreciated the fine details like this.
A Personal Touch in the Engine Bay
One of the details I kept coming back to was the engine builder plaque attached to the engine.
It’s a small piece of the car, but it gives the ZR1X a more personal feel. At this level, so much of the conversation naturally turns toward numbers: horsepower, torque, drivetrain, acceleration, lap times. The plaque cuts through that a bit. It puts a person’s name on the engine and gives the owner a visible connection to the build.
